A Grand Magic Lantern Show - For Families

Join us this Half Term for a treat for all the family. Entertain the kids without a TV or iPad in true Dickensian style with one of our fantastic Magic Lantern Shows! To accompany our special exhibition Charles Dickens: Man of Science we have arranged a weekend of special magic lantern performances from internationally renowned magic lantern performers Jeremy and Carolyn Brooker. Their shows feature an authentic triunial (or Triple) magic lantern combining three projectors in a single device. This is the most complex and rarest form of magic lantern entertainment. It allows them to present fast-moving shows featuring the most spectacular effects the lantern can produce. Jeremy and Carolyn Brooker have been performing together for over 20 years to perfect this demanding art. In their hands, the beauty and visual spectacle which has kept the magic lantern at the forefront of popular entertainment for centuries retains the power to fully engage a modern audience. A special magic lantern entertainment for children and families including acrobat pigs, exploding volcanoes and the most famous of all magic lantern illusions, the man who eats rats. A perfect treat for all in the run up to Hallowe’en and Bonfire night!
