Hendrix Flat Friday Late

Come and experience live music, DJs, go-go dancers, psychedelic light and film projections, a pop-up photo exhibition and more at our summer Friday Late at 23 Brook Street, Mayfair. Taking inspiration for the list of legendary musicians who played at the 1970 Isle Of Wight Festival, we will have live sets from electric bluesman and natural-born storyteller John J Presley, as well as guitarist, songwriter and blues academic Tom Attah, who will both play two sets each – a fully-electric set on the 1st floor and intimate, acoustic set in Hendrix’s bedroom. Plus special guest DJ Natalia RC of Fortune Teller Records will be providing the soundtrack to the night. Alongside the music, ‘London’s Go-To 1960’s and 1970’s Go-Go Dancers!’ The Meyer Dancers, will be returning to Brook Street to keep the party going with some Hendrix-inspired routines. We are really excited to be partnering with Mateus Rosé for this celebration of Jimi Hendrix ‘s epic Isle of Wight festival appearance. Many people have seen the iconic image of Jimi drinking Mateus Rosé without knowing this picture was taken in his bedroom at 23 Brook Street. In fact there is still a bottle of Mateus on his bedside table today as a tribute to his love of the wine! On top of all that, we will have a temporary exhibition of rarely seen photos from the original Isle of Wight festivals, psychedelic light projections, face-painting, and the chance to visit parts usually closed to the public, including the stairs that Hendrix would have walked up to get to his third-floor flat, and the guest room where George Harrison, among others, famously stayed.
