Exhibition on Rare Arabic and Persian Manuscripts of Kashmir

Today on 18th of May, the department of Archives Archaeology and Museums celebrated International Museum Day 2018 at its New Museum complex, Lal Mandi Srinagar. On this event, the department organized a special exhibition on Rare Arabic and Persian Manuscripts of Kashmir at SPS Museum Srinagar.
The exhibition was inaugrated by Mr Naeem Akhtar, Hon'ble Minister for Public Works and Culture, JK Govenment along with some dignitaries and hundreds of school students who had come to visit the exhibition today.
Earlier, the Hon'ble Minister was given a warm welcome and was recieved at SPS Museum, New complex by Mohammad Saleem Shehgari-secretary culture, Mushtaq Ahmad Beigh-Assistant Director,, Rabia Qureshi - Curator SPS Museum and other senior officials of the department. The Minister was accompanied by high level dignitaries including Mohammad Saleem Beg, conveyor INTACH JK chapter.

There were several manuscripts on display
which had been copied by the reputed philosophers, historians, religious scholars and calligraphers. The manuscripts dating back to centuries are on literature, history, culture, religion. In this context, mention may be made of many handwritten olden copies of Holy Quran,and manuscripts on Maha Bhagwat Gita and Ramayana. The displayed manuscripts also included Tafseer e kabeer, Durood e akbar, Maraj Ul nabuwat, Roza Ul Ahbab, Persian Geometry, Astronomy etc.

It is pertinent to mention that the department is maintaining and preserving hundreds of manuscripts.
Thousands of visitors which includes locals, tourists, students from reputed schools and colleges visited exhibition and took keen interest in manuscripts. The museum administration had made elaborate arrangements for the event and free entry was made to the exhibition and to the all museum galleries.
