International Museum Day

Nehru Science Centre, Mumbai organises My Own Collection Exhibition to commemorate International Museum Day Celebration

International Museum Day (IMD) is celebrated every year on or around 18 May, coordinated by the International Council of Museums (ICOM). The theme for International Museum community's celebration this year is 2018 – ‘Hyperconnected Museums: New approaches, new publics’.

It is proposed to organize a unique event ‘My Own Collection’ Exhibition as a part of this International Museum Day during 18, 19, 20 May 2018 at Nehru Science Centre, Mumbai. The exhibition is proposed to give an exposure to senior citizens, house wives & general public to exhibit their own collection e.g. postal stamps, toys, nail paintings, coins, hats, traditional miniature paintings, chalk art, wood art, lamps, artifacts, watches, antique utensils, key chains, cotton sculptures, tour memorabilia, maps etc. Around 45 participants are participating in this exhibition from various parts of the Country.

The exhibition will be inaugurated through the hands of Ms Tasneem Zakaria Mehta, Managing Trusty and Honorary Director, Dr Bhau Daji Lad Museum (BDL), Mumbai on 18th May 2018 at 11.00 am. A publication providing brief information about the participants and their collection will be unveiled on the occasion.
