ART HISTORY- ROCOCO TO REALISM

This course of six lectures will trace the development of French Art from the decadence of Louis XV’s court to the gritty realism of Courbet and Manet. Art works from the collection of Shrewsbury Museum will also be considered in order to compare and contrast the Art of Britain and the Art of France. Artists to be studied will include Watteau and Boucher, David and Ingres, Delacroix and Gericault and Courbet and Manet." Fergus Reid is a graduate in History of Art and French from the University of Edinburgh. In the last sixteen years he has been teaching History of Art and the History of Photography at Shrewsbury School.
