Easter Fun at Beamish

Here’s just some of the fun we’ve got planned: Take part in our Easter egg trail. Can you find all the eggs the Easter Bunny has hidden around the museum? See (and taste!) traditional Easter baking across the museum including fish on Good Friday. Call in at Herron’s Bakery in The Town to purchase a delicious hot cross bun or a piece of simnel cake. There will be a chance to make an Easter card in The Pit Village school on Saturday or why not make an Easter bonnet on Easter Sunday or Monday? On Easter Sunday and Monday, Georgian folk will be decorating eggs to jarp at Pockerley Old Hall, visitors can help with Easter preparations, as well as making a paper flower to take home. If you’re visiting us on Easter Sunday, head to the dentist’s waiting room in The Town, where you can decorate an egg, and on Easter Monday we’ll be rolling the eggs in The Town park at 11am, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm. Whose will go the furthest? Our 1940s Farm will be making carrot lollies (a real treat!) and getting all crafty with Easter cards and rabbit finger puppet making from 15th to 17th April! Hop along to the museum to find out how Easter was celebrated in the 1820s, 1900s and 1940s! There’s plenty to see and do.
