Maker Not Muse: Eleanor Coade

To mark the 2018 centenary of women’s suffrage, we present the first in a series of Maker Not Muse special talks highlighting female artists in the Collection. Museum Director Caro Howell tells the story of Eleanor Coade, the extraordinary Georgian businesswoman whose company manufactured the Foundling Hospital’s baptismal font, made from a revolutionary new building material.
