Ribbon of Remembrance

The Green Howards Museum in Richmond, North Yorkshire, is creating a Ribbon of Remembrance, both physical and digital, as part of its commemoration of the centenary anniversary of the end of the First World War. Local people are being encouraged to upload images and biographies of relatives to the museum's website to build a range of research stories. The museum team are also offering family history research assistance to anyone who wants to use this landmark anniversary year to anyone who wants to start a research project. The Ribbon of Remembrance will take physical form over the weekend of Remembrance Sunday in November, when images and biographies gathered over the course of the project will line the 3 mile route between Catterick Garrison and Richmond.  People will be encouraged to join a walk along the route, ending in the town to coincide with the traditional ceremony in Friary Gardens.  The Ribbon of Remembrance is linked to the museum's major exhibition for 2018: 'Aftermath - living through the peace'.
