Wielding Power & Watery Places: a guided tour of Burghead's heritage (HHA2017)

Wielding Power and Watery Places: Two thousand years of interaction between people, landscape and seascape at Burghead Headland Join local archaeologist Leanne Demay for a guided walk around Burghead Headland. This walk through time will consider the people who shaped the landscape, from the inhabitants of the mighty Iron Age fort, to today’s planned village. Burghead headland boasts a rich, multi faceted landscape, being the location of Scotland’s largest Iron Age promontory fort, historic graveyard, enigmatic well, and Thomas Telford designed harbour. PLEASE NOTE: This walk will cover a distance of c.2km (1.2 miles) over varying terrain, and may be unsuitable for those with limited mobility. (meeting point TBC - this will be communicated prior to the event by email) This tour is provided thanks to the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund.
