This panel echoes the exhibition by discussing the issue of cultural heritage preservation. With references to the artistic practices of the participating artist, Ying Tianqi, speakers are invited to share their own artistic and cultural practices as artists, architects, curators, researchers and scholars, and to examine how art engages social transformation and cultural heritage in Hong Kong and in greater China.

Dr Zheng Bo, School of Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong
Zheng Bo is an artist, writer, and teacher, committed to socially and ecologically engaged art. He has worked with a number of museums and art spaces in Asia and Europe. His essays on Chinese socially engaged art have been published in multiple journals and anthologies. Since 2014 he has been leading a major research project on Chinese socially engaged art (seachina.net). He holds a PhD in Visual and Cultural Studies from the University of Rochester, and currently teaches at School of Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong.
Prof Wallace Chang Ping Hung, Faculty of Architecture, HKU
HKIA Fellow; Registered Architect in Hong Kong and China; Associate Professor, Faculty of Architecture, HKU; Advisory Committee Member on Revitalization of Historic Buildings. He is an architectural practitioner and theorist interested in urban design, cultural conservation and community participation. His latest project, the Kai Tak River Green Corridor Community Education Project, focuses on cultural identity and urban sustainability issues. To recognize his contribution to the promotion of cultural conservation, he received a Certificate of Commendation from the Secretary for Home Affairs in 2015.
Mr So Kwok Kin, Architect and Artist
So Kwok Kin received his master’s degree in Architecture from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (2003) and has been a Registered Architect in Hong Kong since 2007. He was a member of the Curatorial Team for the Hong Kong Pavilion at the Venice Biennale International Architecture Exhibition. So’s works have been exhibited in galleries and architecture biennales, with some shortlisted in major public art competitions. He is the Founder and Project Director of Green Map Hong Kong, a community art initiative that promotes sustainable urban living through mapmaking.
