Lunt Roman Festival 2017

Travel back in time and immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of Roman Britain! With cavalry, infantry, artillery and living history encampments, the Lunt will be bursting with life and activity throughout the day. Costumed interpreters will fill the fort with Roman infantry marching, an Iron Age camp, weaving demonstrations and birds of prey (Saturday only). Plus don’t miss the unique sight of horseback demonstrations and infantry fighting in the famous Gyrus. Join us for a fun and interactive insight into the early history of Coventry, from the Iron Age to the end of the Roman occupancy all in a single day! Participants include: Britannia – Roman Infantry with living history camp Dumnonika – Iron Age warriors and civilians with living history camp ARC – Duo of Roman Cavalry soldiers with living history camp Falconry display (on Saturday only) REME – modern soldiers Textiles Through Time – Spinning and Weaving in the Granary Coventry and District Archaeology Society display Weavers' Workshop Family activities include - try your hand at archery, make a clay pot, and join in with Iron Age and Roman children’s drill. Refreshments will be available on site.There will be a special shuttle bus service connecting the Lunt to the city centre throughout the festival. There is free parking at the Lunt site and an overspill at the car park of Russell’s Nursery, only a 4 minute walk away.
