English Tour of the House of Sharing

We, the HoS International Outreach Team, have been offering English-language museum tours on a monthly basis since 2006, and we invite you to join us on our next one.

Please meet us at Gangbyeon Station (Dong Seoul Bus Station) line number 2, exit 1 at 12pm on the day of the tour. We will take you to the House of Sharing by shuttle bus from there. Please bring KRW 15,000. The bus will return to Gangbyeon Station after the tour. Cash Only

After the tour, there may be an opportunity to meet the survivors and talk to them in an informal setting, depending on their condition that day.
If a halmoni feels up to it, they may be willing to answer some questions or share some of their story. If not, we will organize another activity involving leaving a message for the halmoni. Again, if a halmoni feels up to it, they may join us and we can share our messages with them.
(Please remember that the halmoni are all in their eighties and nineties, and suffering from various ailments, so sometimes a meeting isn't possible).
The tour, subsequent discussions, and meeting with the survivors will be an informative and rewarding experience, and it will give you a historical perspective on current Korea-Japan relations and further insight on the many forms that violence against women can take.

Please be aware that depending on traffic, it should take us an hour or a little longer to get back to Gangbyeon Station.

* Special Note: Extra money if you wish to make a donation or buy souvenirs from the gift shop

GETTING THERE: The HoS International Outreach Team will meet you at Exit #1 of Gangbyeon station (Line 2, Stop 214) at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday to guide you. We will then take a private bus to the House of Sharing. Please arrive on time, as we will leave by 12:10 at the latest. If you arrive after this time, you may have to take public transportation to the House.

NOTE:
Please make sure to bring some snacks with you as there is nowhere to purchase them at the House of Sharing. Also, the grandmothers love music and dance!
