Boomtown: From Front Line to White Lund

The exhibition tells the story of the King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment in action on the Western Front, Salonika and Mesopotamia in 1917, and then brings the story right to the home front in Lancaster and Morecambe. We cover the Royal Visit of May 1917 and the local war production, including the National Filling Factory at White Lund which saw a severe fire and explosions in October 1917. We talk about the work at the factory, the fire and explosions, the fire fighting and the gallantry involved by both workers and firemen. Visitors are encourage to cast their vote as to how the fire started.
