Musicke in the Ayre: Jane Hunt & Maria Danishvar, sopranos and Din Ghani, archlute/baroque guitar
A happy hour of gorgeous music (both sacred and secular) from early 17th century Venice by Claudio Monteverdi and some of his contemporaries. Although he was born in Cremona 450 years ago, Venice was where Monteverdi found fulfilment and job satisfaction when he became choirmaster at St Mark’s Basilica, and where many of his masterpieces were written.
