Interpret

Interpret is a showcase of work by young contemporary artists who are completing a range of art and design courses at Warrington Collegiate. Responding to the theme of Warrington, the students’ creations reflect their perspective on the town’s changing identity. The art on show illustrates the individuality of the students and the diversity of talent, from those at the beginning of their creative journeys to those who are soon to progress to higher education. Some of the young artists used Warrington Museum & Art Gallery’s collection as a starting point to generate ideas, whether a texture or surface decoration, or an object or item that evokes a certain feeling or idea. This primary research was then used as a stimulus to respond to Warrington as a town and its creative heritage, and to map out its identity through fresh eyes.
