Departure of the Royal Guernsey Light Infantry

The RGLI was formed from the Royal Guernsey Militia at the end of 1916. This was the first time in history that Guernsey men had been conscripted and the only time a Guernsey regiment has fought outside the island. There will be a march from Fort George to the White Rock of servicemen, ex-servicemen, uniformed and youth organisations following the route taken by the 1st Battalion as it marched to embark for England, en route to France.
