The autumn display will include works on loan from Aberdeen Art Gallery and Museum Collection including South Coast Beach, c.1940 and Coastal Defenses, c.1940 – both were presented by the War Artists’ Advisory Committee to Aberdeen Gallery and Museum.
We will also show popular Ravilious works from Towner’s permanent collection: The Westbury Horse, 1939, Lifeboat, 1938 and Train Going Over a Bridge at Night, 1935, as seen above.
The room features specially commissioned cabinets to view and enjoy the Ravilious archive. Copies of the wide range of Ravilious books will also be available for you to read.
