75 Years

This year the Herbert will be commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Coventry Blitz with a special display of John Piper’s iconic paintings of the ruins of Coventry Cathedral on the morning after the Blitz. We will also be unveiling a new artwork by internationally renowned artist Gustav Metzger, which explores the bombing of Coventry and the German city of Munster in the Second World War. The Herbert has acquired this work with the help of a grant from the Contemporary Art Society.
