Young Explorers

Calling all Young Explorers – bring your parents, carers or grandparents for a fun morning! Each month, see how a different museum object and a different gallery can be explored through story, rhythm, rhyme and craft. Young Explorers is great for developing early literacy skills, social skills, creativity and enquiry. Join us every first Thursday of each month during school term time for a special Young Explorers toddler session, from 1pm-2.30pm. £3 per participating child (2-5 years). Homes - Thursday 1st October 2015 Look at real Roman roof tiles in our Roman Gallery. Then enjoy ‘The Three Little Pigs’ before making your own home – what will you decorate your home with? The Gruffalo! - Thursday 5th November 2015 Get up close to a real woodland creatures (taxidermy) and join in with ‘The Gruffalo’ story in our Wildlife Gallery. Then make Gruffalo sock monsters – but be careful you don’t meet and scare any small mice on your way back home! Other dates: Dec 3rd, Jan 7th, Feb 11th, March 10th Additional toddler sessions can be arranged for pre-school playgroups. Booking is essential because places are restricted. Extend your stay with more interactive play in all of our galleries, with a lunchbox in Squire’s Coffee House or a further explore with the Chatter Trail.
