International Museum Day

On Monday 18 May in conjunction with International Museums Day, entry to the Permanent Collection will be free and there will be longer Monday opening hours, from 10am to 7pm. Basing itself on this year’s theme, Museums for a sustainable society, the Museum has organised a series of activities based on the concept of recycling with the aim of emphasising the importance of the conservation and dissemination of the heritage in order to maintain a sustainable society.

In collaboration with the Tetra Pak company, visitors in the Museum’s garden will be handed out free cartons of water with the image on them of four masterpieces from the collection, each associated with a concept relating to sustainability, thus encouraging them to transform their act of recycling into an aesthetic experience.

Finally, from 12 noon to 1.30pm and from 4.30pm to 6pm there will be explanatory talks in the galleries on a selection of works given by the various groups that habitually collaborate with the Thyssen’s Education Department.

El lunes 18 de mayo, con motivo del Día Internacional de los Museos, la entrada a la colección permanente será gratuita, y ampliamos el horario habitual de los lunes abriendo de 10 a 19 horas. Bajo el lema de este año, Museos para una sociedad sostenible, se han organizado una serie de actividades en torno al reciclaje y dirigidas a concienciar sobre la importancia de la conservación y difusión del Patrimonio para mantener una sociedad sostenible.

En colaboración con la empresa Tetra Pak, se distribuirán en el jardín envases de agua con la imagen de cuatro obras maestras de las colecciones, vinculando cada una a un concepto sobre sostenibilidad e invitando a los visitantes a convertir su acción de reciclaje en una experiencia estética.

Además, de 12 a 13.30 y de 16.30 a 18.00 horas, habrá explicaciones en las salas de una selección de obras a cargo de diversos colectivos que colaboran habitualmente con el Área de Educación del Museo.
