Summer Concert: Leighton's Music

The concerts held every year in Leighton’s studio were like a who’s who of mid-nineteenth century music making. There was a real sense of the creative arts reaching across to each other – all in the informal and intimate atmosphere of the studio, with Leighton’s work in progress all around them. Musician and broadcaster Sandy Burnett returns to Leighton House to host another absorbing and entertaining evening of music making, very much in the spirit of Leighton’s “Musics”. It includes Lieder by Lord Leighton’s beloved Franz Schubert, the violin sonata by Claude Debussy, and songs in English from Thomas Arne and from Howard Blake, one of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea’s most distinguished current musical residents. To perform in this concert we’re delighted to welcome back tenor Richard Edgar-Wilson, violinist Kathryn Parry and pianist Juliet Edwards.
