The cabinet was made by Edmund Patterson in 1948 as a wedding present for his daughter, Trudy on her marriage to Thomas Wellings. Mr Patterson worked as a cabinet maker / French polisher in the Neptune Yard at Swan Hunter Shipbuilders., , , , He worked until he was 76 and died in 1969 aged 86. Several 0f his sons worked as cabinet makers and French polishers. Edmund Patterson lived in the Jesmond, Heaton , Shieldfield areas of Newcastle. Size :- 1090 mm high x 900 mm wide x 290 mm deep. , , , , Mr Patterson also made another china cabinet and a sideboard for donor's two aunts, which she believes they still have.
