Hand knitted skirt and jacket or cardigan. This is said to have been knitted by the Mary Blake, the Donor's grandmother. It was probably knitted by her when she moved up to Newcastle in the 1960s. It is a simple cardigan or jacket with a straight knee length skirt that has an elasticated skirt. The fibre feels to be man-made and it is a green and brown marled colour, with bronze coloured plastic buttons., , The Donor's grandparents, David Thomas Blake and Mary Blake. They lived in Westleigh Gardens, Edgewear, London. Mary was born in 1887. David was was an engineer for London transport, Mary also worked on London Transport which is where they met. They originally lived where Victoria Bus station is, but were relocated when this was built. Mary moved to live with the family in Newcastle in the 1960s.
