Plain ivory fan with narrow, rounded guards and 19 straight, flat ivory sticks. These are held by a brass rod and 2 round mother of pearl button studs. The leaves are of plain paper painted brown both sides, decorated on one side with 3 sets of flowers, each in red, green, white and blue. The reverse side shows an attempt at beginning to decorate the fan; the fan was probably one similar to those Duvelleroy, or Rimmel sold, being plain ivory or white enamelled wood, for the amateur artists to paint themselves.
