Mansfield Bronchoscope, 1950s. Used for inserting into the lung surgery tubes (1999-792) so that the anaesthetist can look down the trachea and see the carina and so insert the tube down the correct bronchus. Ruth Mansfield was an anaesthetist at the Brompton Hospital and died in about 1994.
