Incomplete cast copper alloy Headstud brooch. The brooch has cylindrical wings in cross-section with a ribbed flat wing cover in front. The wings containing an axis bar for a hinged pin. Only the hinge of the pin remains. There is an incomplete suspension loop at the top of the head in the centre.
The bow is comma shaped in profile and rectangular in cross-section. At the top of the bow is a raised moulded circular stud with a recessed band that would have once contained enamel. The bow is decorated with four or possibly five rectangular cells that taper with the width of the bow towards the foot. Each cell would have contained enamel however only the top one remains with some blue with the recess. The foot is reeled and has a catchplate on the reverse.
