Child's Stay Band, 1880-1885 (Ref:L.C712.1980.53.0)

Stay band of red sateen, interlined with hessian and lined with cotton twill. It has a corded centre panel at the front and back to give the garment extra support. The tightness of the stay band is adjusted with the wraparound strap, which is fastened with hooks and eyes. Museum ref. AA3a
