By the end of the 1990s fashion's flirtation with casual, layered clothes was beginning to make way for a more confident, tailored and luxurious look. This midnight blue suit is typical of the Autumn/Winter collection for 1996 which reflected the new mood that "trickled down" from influential luxury goods companies such as Gucci.
