Description: Harvest jug. Earthenware, slip-coated with incised decoration under lead glaze. The jug has a bulbous body, short neck pinched into a lip in front and a loop handle turned up in a coil at the lower end. On the front is a sun-face between sprays of roses and tulips with birds perched upon them, and, above, the inscription 'Humphrey Whitefield 1788 Philip Burch Maker 1788'. Below, the words 'Now I'm come for to supply Good Harvestmen when they are Dry BARUM 1788'. Below, the handle, two faces in medallions and two peacocks with a smaller bird in a rectangular panel.
