Caprimulgus europaeus Linnaeus: CAPRIMULGIDAE: European nightjar
This female nightjar came from near Torquay in Devon. Nightjars do not construct nests but lay their eggs on ground vegetation. Mottled plumage provides perfect camouflage whilst incubating the eggs. It has a distinctive churring call. - -
