Large fan with long, carved, roughly pierced bone guards and 14 wedge-shaped sticks which are also pierced. The guards and sticks held in place by a stud-ended metal rod, having a gold coloured metal loop attached for the tassel or ribbon tie. The leaf is of cream satin, with a lining of ribbed white cotton. The leaves are bound at upper and lower edges with fine cream silk tape, and are hand embroidered at the centre with a floral sprig in bright pink, golds, browns and green silk threads, with metal spring twist decorations.
