Huge T-rex moved outside museum after sculptor's A1 lorry trip

Huge replica of Tyrannosaurus rex moved down A1 to Cambridge by Sculptor in lorryClick on the picture to launch

Clare, a model sculpture of a T-rex, is named after the college where she starred at an annual ball with a primordial theme last summer.

The morning after, the model was trundled through the centre of Cambridge by a highly visible posse, spending the winter hidden in a corner of the Downing Street home of the Sedgwick Museum, the oldest geological museum in the world.  

“Normally my work is displayed on my front lawn for the benefit of local children and the grandparents who bring them, so this wider audience is an absolute thrill,” said Ian Curran, the sculptor who made the half-size replica in his Doncaster workshop before transporting it down the A1 on the back of a lorry.

“It's tremendous to see one of my sculptures in such a prestigious location. I'm thrilled that the Sedgewick Museum has her on display where she will be seen by so many more families.”
