Lab tests for Saxon cemetery and Roman cremation urn

Archaeologists who found a well-preserved Saxon skeleton and a Roman burial urn at a housing development site say they hope laboratory tests will lead to “significant” discoveries about Kent’s past residents.

SWAT Archaeology uncovered the “exciting” bones at a burial ground in the village of Aylesham, where construction work on the new homes was expected to begin at the end of November.

They will be examined at the Human Osteology Research Lab at the University of Kent in Canterbury.
