Hermitage Amsterdam announces 2014-2020 exhibition programme

Hermitage Amsterdam announced its exhibition programme for 2014-2020 at a festive event on Friday 11 April. The museum is currently celebrating its fifth year on the Amstel River. The museum will host these nine major exhibitions in the next five years (in chronological order): Dining with the Tsars; Alexander, Napoleon & Joséphine; Jewels from the Hermitage Treasure Gallery; Spanish Art; 1917: from Romanov to Revolution; Dutch Masters; European Neoclassicism; Catherine the Great; and Greek and Scythian Gold.

Anticipated highlights from the Hermitage St Petersburg collection include works by Rembrandt and other Golden Age painters (Dutch Masters), original tableware of the tsars, such as the Cameo and Green Frog services (Dining with the Tsars), sculptures by Canova, Thorvaldsen and Mengs (European Neoclassicism), paintings by Velázquez, Murillo, Goya and El Greco (Spanish Art) and artworks from the collection of Joséphine de Beauharnais (Napoleon and Alexander).
