April 18 is the International Day of Monuments and Historical Sites

April 18 is celebrated as the day of international monuments and historical places in the world. This remarkable day was established by UNESCO in 1983 on the proposal of the council for the protection of historical sites and monuments (ICOMOS). The goal is to focus people's attention on the preservation of monuments and historical sites.

Monuments and historical places with their appearance remind people of their identity and what they are capable of at any moment, instill a sense of love for the motherland and loyalty to it.

There are historical monuments in our country, the age of which covers centuries and millennia. The jawbone of an ancient man found in the azykh cave, the settlements discovered in Gobustan confirm that people lived in Azerbaijan from the earliest times.

In different periods of history, with the emergence of states in the territory of our country, ancient cities were built, defense buildings and magnificent fortress walls were built. Medieval monuments include Maiden Tower, Momina Khatun, Garabaghlar, Gulustan, Allah-Allah tombs, Shirvanshahs Palace, Sheki Khan's Palace, monuments of Shusha, etc. it is one of the most beautiful pearls not only of the East, but also of the World Architecture.
